AFCAT Eligibility: Ground Duty & Flying Post 2018

AFCAT or Air Force Common Admission Test is a common entrance examination organized by Indian Airforce to select eligible cadets for multiple posts. AFCAT Notification 2018 was released on 1st June 2018 and admit card for the same has rolled out. Online examination for AFCAT 2018 will be conducted on 18th and 19th August 2018. AFCAT is conducted twice every year and millions of students try their luck to ace this prestigious exam.

Eligibility criteria for Ground posts:

(A) Age criteria:

1. Flying branch through AFCAT and NCC special entry: Candidate should be born between 2nd July 1995 to 1 july1999 (both dates inclusive) i.e,
minimum age: 20 years
maximum age: 24 year

NOTE: Candidates who have failed the Computerised Pilot Selection System(CPSS)/ Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply in Flying Branch.

2.Ground duty( technical & non-technical) branch: Candidates should be born between 2nd July 1993 to 1 July 1999 (both dates inclusive) i.e,
minimum age: 20 years
maximum age:26 years

Important Note: Candidates below 25 years must be unmarried at the time of commencement of course. Widows/widowers/divorcees age below 25 years are also not eligible.

(B) Educational Qualification:

1. Flying branch:  Minimum 60% marks each in physics and mathematics at 10+2 level and a three-year degree in graduation OR a BE/BTECH degree with a minimum of 60% from a recognized university

2.Ground duty(Technical)Branch:
(i)Aeronautical engineering (Electronics)(AE(L)): Minimum 60% marks each in physics and mathematics at 10+2 level and a degree in graduation/post-graduation in the field of engineering and technology from a recognized university.
OR
Those who have cleared examination of associate membership of the institution of engineers (India) in both A and B section, with a minimum of 60% in the following disciplines :
  • (aaa)Communication engineering
  • (aab)Computer engineering/technology
  • (aac)Computer engineering&application
  • (aae)Electrical and computer engineering
  • (aaf)Electrical and electronics engineering
  • (aag)Electrical engineering
  • (aah)Electronics engineering/technology
  • (aaj)Electronics science and engineering
  • (aak)Electronics
  • (aaI)Electronics and communication engineering
  • (aam)Electronics and computer science
  • (aan)Electronics and/or telecommunication engineering
  • (aao)Electronics and/or telecommunication engineering(Microwave)
  • (aap)Electronics and computer engineering
  • (aaq)Electronics communication and instrumentation engineering
  • (aar)Electronics instrument and control
  • (aas)Electronics instrument and control engineering

(ii)Aeronautical engineering(Mechanical)(AE(M)): Minimum 60% marks each in physics and mathematics at 10+2 level and a four-year degree in graduation/integrated or post-graduation in the field of engineering and technology from a recognized university.
OR
Those who have cleared examination of associate membership of the institution of engineers (India) in both A and B section, with a minimum of 60% in the following disciplines :
  • (aaa) Aerospace Engineering
  • (aab) Aeronautical Engineering
  • (aac) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
  • (aad) Mechanical Engineering
  • (aae) Mechanical Engineering and Automation
  • (aaf) Mechanical Engineering (Production)
  • (aag) Mechanical Engineering (Repair and Maintenance)
  • (aah) Mechatronics
  • (aaj) Industrial Engineering
2.Ground duty(Non-Technical)Branches:
(i)Administration & Logistics: Graduate degree with a minimum of 60% marks with a three-year degree course from a recognized university OR should have cleared section A & B examination with a minimum of 60%

(ii)Accounts: Candidates holding B.COM degree with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(iii)Education: 50% marks in MBA/MCA  or MA/MSC degree in English/Physics/mathematics/chemistry/statistics/international relations/international studies/defence studies/psychology/computer science/IT/Management/mass communication/journalism public relation and minimum 60% marks in graduation.

(iv)Special entry (flying branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C'Certificate acquired on or after 02 Jun 16 is mandatory and a minimum of 60% marks in graduation. Students mandatorily have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 60% marks in maths and physics.

(v)Metereology: Candidates should have scored minimum 50% marks in post graduation and minimum 55% marks in graduation provided that maths and physics were studied.

(C)Physical and Medical Standards:
(i)Candidates should be medically fit as prescribed standards.
(ii)Non- reporting of candidates on the allotted date and venue may cancel their candidature.
(iii)Unfit candidates will be given a time period of 42 days to get fit as per the prescribed standard after that if they do not meet the requirements they will be permanently rejected for the post.
