Territorial Army Selection Process 2021: As you all know that Indian army has published the notification of Territorial Army (TA) 2021. Candidate aspiring for TA notification 2021 can find more details regarding the Territorial Army selection procedure below.

Once selected, the candidates will serve the nation in two capacities – as a civilian and as a soldier. However, before applying, the candidates must check eligibility criteria, age limit, salary, selection process, exam pattern and other updates.


Territorial Army Selection Process 2021

 

(a) Candidates who have applied will be called for screening after they have cleared the written examination by a Preliminary Interview Board (PIB) by the respective Territorial Army Group Headquarters. 

 

(b) Then, candidates who will qualify for the written examination will further undergo tests at a Service Selection Board (SSB) and Medical Board for final selection.

Time: Time for each session is  2 Hours which will be conducted in 2 sessions. 

 

Type Of Exam: Examination will be conducted in Paper Pen (OMR) mode

 

Qualifying Marks: Minimum 40% marks in each part of the paper separately and overall average of 50%.

 

Territorial Army SSB Process

Candidates who clear the written exam shall be called for SSB Interview Procedure. Service Selection Board Interview is all about your personality. Candidates are judged on the basis of the personality traits he/she has, accordingly, he/she is recommended or not recommended by SSB.



Reporting of Candidates

The SSB Selection Centre issues detailed instructions to the prospective candidates in the form of a ‘call up’ letter. The batches are planned based on total number of applications received from the Recruiting Directorate as also directly through online applications in certain cases of technical entries. This is a 5 Stage process after which the candidate goes through the Medical Exam Procedure.

Stage I Screening Test (Intelligence Test) 

This Stage has two parts:

  • Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR)
  • Picture Perception & Description Test (PP & DT)
Officer Intelligence Rating Test is a simple test on the basis of logic or analytical aptitude from which an intelligence rating ranging from I to V is awarded to the candidates which are based on the number of total correct answers. It is to be noted that the candidate with a higher intelligence rating will benefit in the entire process of testing including stage-II.

In Picture Perfection and Discussion Test, you will be shown a picture on the screen and you have to create a story around it. You will be given fixed amount of time in which you have to perceive the number of characters, their age, their mood, etc. in the picture. Your perception to see things needs to be correct in order to do well in this test. You should always remember that what prompted the circumstance should be finished in the 2 lines and the present continuous things or the activity part of the story that you have thought should be written in at any rate 6-7 line and you ought to close your story by giving the coherent result having great and positive importance.

Stage- II Psychological Assessment

Second Stage i.e Psychological Assessment of the SSB Interview is viewed as generally tedious task to break as it is assessed by logical techniques by the SSB assessors. SSB Psychological Tests have the following tests i.e Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT) and Self Description Test (SDT). The tests are conducted through a computer based process which projects the requirements based on a timed programme.

GTO Test, Group Assessment

The GTO test series are conducted over a period of one or two days. The tests include group tasks, command tasks, lecture, group discussions, group planning exercise and other outdoor exercises. The GTO is a series of outdoor tasks, designed to assesses a candidate's qualities in a group and how they get involved with each other in a group. The GTO (Group Testing Officer) test series are conducted on Day 3 & 4 of the SSB (In AFSB, GTO test series are conducted on Day 2 & 3 or Day 3 & 4). 
GTO consists of the following group exercises:
  • Group Discussion
  • Group Planning Exercise
  • Progressive Group Tasks (PGT)
  • Half Group Tasks
  • Individual Obstacles
  • Group Obstacles Race or Snake Race
  • Command Task
  • Lecturette
  • Final Group Task

Personal Interview

After all the tasks are done, each Candidate faces one interview which lasts for approximately forty-five minutes. The interview is carried out on any one of the three days. The interviewing officer understands and gives you fair benefit for shortcomings or mistakes which you may have committed. Be honest in the Interview process and do not try and hide anything. 

Conference - The Final Frontier

After all the tasks are completed, the result is announced on the last day of the SSB Interview Procedure. Now, the selected candidates will go through the baisc medical examination and then after a few months, a final merit list of the recommended candidates is announced. The final decision is made during the conference whether the candidate will be selected or not. The conference is carried out on the final day i.e. the fifth day. The result is conveyed to candidates after the conference.
