How to join the Indian Army Aviation Corps


Army Aviation Corps is the youngest corps of the Indian Army was formed in 1986. The objective of Indian Army Aviation Corps is to provide air combat support to the Indian Army. The training center of the aviation corps is Combat Army Aviation Training School (CATS) Nashik. The various tasks performed by the army aviation corps are logistics, medical evacuation, rescue, lifting artilleries, search operations, etc.

The Indian Army Aviation Corps uses HAL Rudra and HAL LCH as its attack helicopters and for transport purposes it uses HAL Dhruv, HAL Chetak, HAL Cheetah and Cheetal


There are two ways to apply for Army Aviation Corps

1-1-   Already serving Indian Army Officers can apply for Indian Army Aviation whenever there are vacancies.

2-2-   Cadets undergoing their training can opt for Indian Army Aviation. After completion of their training, they will be considered for aviation depending on their merit.


Those who apply for Indian Army Aviation need to pass the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS). Only one chance is given for this special test. It’s once on a lifetime test. “Operation Pawan” was the first operation assigned to the Army Aviation Corps against the Tamil Tigers. The Army Aviation Corps draws its officers from all arms of the army including artillery.
