NCC all set for a major expansion to cover 173 border and coastal districts


Defence Minister Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has approved a proposal of the National Cadet Corps for a significant development plan to meet the yearnings of youth in border and coastal districts.

The recommendations of the plan were reported by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in his Independence Day address on 15 Aug. 

A total of one lakh cadets from 173 border and coastal districts will be inducted in the NCC. One-third of the Cadets would be girl Cadets. More than 1000 schools and colleges have been identified in border and coastal districts where NCC will be introduced.

In excess of 1000 schools and universities have been distinguished in outskirt and seaside regions where NCC will be presented. As a major aspect of the extension plan, a sum of 83 NCC units will be updated (Army 53, Navy 20, Air Force 10), to confer NCC preparing to the cadets in the fringe and beach front territories. 

Armed force will offer preparing and regulatory help to the NCC units situated in the fringe zones, Navy will offer help to NCC units in the beach front territories and comparatively Air Force will offer help to the NCC units found near the Air Force stations. 

This won't just give presentation to the young people of the outskirt and beach front regions to military preparing and trained lifestyle yet will likewise inspire them to join the military. The NCC development plan will be actualized in association with the States.
