Make in India gets a big boost: In a significant lift to 'Make in India' activity of the Government, Acquisition Wing of Ministry of Defense (MoD) with the endorsement of Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh,  positioned an Indent on Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) for flexibly of 156 BMP 2/2k Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICV) with overhauled highlights for utilization of the Mechanized Forces of the Indian Army. 

Under this Indent, the Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs) will be fabricated by Ordnance Factory, Medak in Telangana at a rough expense of Rs 1,094 crore.

The BMP-2/2K Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs) will be controlled by 285 strength motors and are lower in weight which will make them profoundly versatile to meet every strategic prerequisite of portability in the war zone. 

These  Infantry Combat Vehicles  ICVs will have the option to arrive at a speed of 65 kilometres for each hour (kmph) with simple controlling capacity in cross-country landscape. They will have land and/or water capable abilities to go at 07 kmph in water. These are intended to conquer slant of upto 35° cross hindrances of 0.7 meter and have deadly capability ability. 

With the enlistment of these 156 BMP 2/2K Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs), intended to be finished by 2023, the current lack in the Mechanized Infantry Battalions will be alleviated and the battle ability of the Army will be additionally improved.
