What are the Officer Like Qualities in SSB: Officer Like Qualities (OLQs) are the qualities that are evaluated during the SSB interview procedure and one must have them in order to lead his/her men to the way of glory. These qualities vary from person to person and it takes time to attain them although some qualities can be achieved in a short span of time. Generally, these qualities show the traits of gentlemen and each person should possess these qualities. These qualities make you a true and successful leader. There are 15 OLQs which are divided into 4 broad spectrum.

PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION
EFFECTIVE INTELLIGENCE
Effective Intelligence test a person's capability of facing practical situations of varying complexity. It consists of Practical Intelligence and Resourcefulness i.e. the capacity to come up with independent solutions of practical problems/situations and the capacity of improvising sources and solutions when in difficult situations. REASONING ABILITY
It signifies a person's rational and logical thinking and the ability to arrive at conclusions under extreme situations by having a good command of receptivity and inquiring attitude.
ORGANISING ABILITY
Effective results are produced when the resources are arranged in a systematic way. This is organising ability. It can be also taken as the ability to take out the best from the available resources and ultimately reach to the final desired objective.
POWER OF EXPRESSION
As the name suggests, it is all about your oratory skills and how one expresses the thoughts. This trait is evaluated in screening, group discussions, Lecturette and Group Planning Exercise.
SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT
SOCIAL ADAPTABILITY
The ability of an individual to adapt to different circumstances and adjust well with fellow persons around especially with superiors, equal and juniors.
COOPERATION
The attitude of an individual to participate voluntarily in harmony with others in a group. This implies that collective effort is more productive than the individual effort.
SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY
A successful leader should delegate his duties and responsibilities to his subordinates during his leadership. A person cannot do all tasks by himself. Thus, in order to be successful one must delegate his work to others up to some extent.
SOCIAL EFFECTIVENESS
INITIATIVE
Under unfamiliar conditions, taking the first step in the right direction and to sustain it till the goal is achieved is initiative. This quality helps during Group Discussions. It helps in coming up with originality in ideas.
SELF CONFIDENCE
This trait is very important and each person must possess it. It is a faith in one's ability to face a stressful situation successfully particularly those which are unfamiliar.
SPEED OF DECISION
Every person has to take decisions in life but what matters is how quick you make those decisions with feasibility and compatibility.
GROUP INFLUENCING ABILITY
This ability comes in handy during Group Tasks while doing tasks in a group. A true leader is a born influencer. He brings about the willing effort from the group for achieving the objective desired by him.
LIVELINESS
The capacity of an individual to keep himself buoyant when meeting problems and bring out a cheerful atmosphere.
DYNAMIC
DETERMINATION
Determination is a positive emotional feeling that involves persevering towards a difficult goal in spite of obstacles. Determination occurs prior to goal attainment and serves to motivate behaviour that will help achieve one's goal.
COURAGE
The ability to take required tasks willingly. Also referred to as bravery, is the choice and willingness to confront emotions and work towards the desired goal.
STAMINA
It is the endurance and the capacity to withstand protracted physical and mental strain.
Some of the qualities can be gained with our day to day experiences and learning. Few qualities are not easy to gain within a short period of time and some can be improved comparatively early. One must keep these qualities in mind and perform accordingly to shop them during SSB interview testing.
