Joining Indian Armed Forces is a dream of many young blood who wants to serve their motherland. Army is all about honor, sacrifice and courage and living a life less ordinary. This is why every year lakhs of defence aspirants with an adventurous streak and reverence for their motherland aspire to join the Indian Armed Forces. There are two type of of commission in the Indian Armed Forces viz. Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) for Men and Women. Permanent commission  

If you get selected through permanent commission entry you have an opportunity to serve the nation full time. It is completely your choice whether to serve till retirement or take an early retirement. Below are the entries for permanent commission in army, air force and navy.

For Indian Army


1. For admission in The National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla

  • NDA entry- Exam followed by SSB interview

2. For admission in Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya

  • TES entry- Direct entry based on SSB interview.

3. For admission in The Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun

  • CDS entry- Exam followed by SSB interview
  • TGC entry- Direct entry based on SSB interview

For Indian Airforce

1. For admission in The National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla

  • NDA entry- Exam followed by SSB interview


2. For admission in The Airforce Academy, Dundigul

  • CDS entry- Exam followed by SSB interview
  • NCC Special Entry & Meteorology Branch-  Direct entry based on SSB interview
  • AFCAT entry (ground duty - technical and non technical)- Exam followed by SSB interview


For Indian Navy

1. For admission in The National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla

  • NDA entryExam followed by SSB interview


2. For admission in The Naval Academy (NA), Ezhimala

  • 10+2 Cadet entry schemeDirect entry based on SSB interview
  • CDS entry- Exam followed by SSB interview
  • NCC Entry- Direct entry based on SSB interview
  • Direct Entry permanent commission- Direct entry based on SSB interview
  • Education Branch entry-  Direct entry based on SSB interview on the basisi of percentage in Post Graduate Degree.
