Defence Expo 2020: Things you Should Know

Defence Expo 2020: Def Expo-2020, one of the largest events of its kind is being held for the first time in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 5th to 9th February 2020. The latest 11th edition of DefExpo 2020 promises to bring new technologies and technological solutions for modern warfare. In DefExpo many Defence manufacturing companies from India and abroad showcase their products and services in Defence arena. The number of companies registered for participating in the 11th edition of the biennial mega defence exhibition, has reached 1,000. In the DefExpo 2018 which was held in Chennai, about 702 companies had participated. Thus, this year is will be the biggest ever DefExpo to be held in India.

Defence Expo 2020

This time the number of foreign companies that would be participating has also increased to 165 from the previous figure of 160. Defence Ministers and Service Chiefs of 35 countries will participate in the DefExpo 2020 that will take place in Lucknow. Many Memoranda of Undertaking (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the DefExpo 2020, which will result in forging of new business collaborations.

This year's theme of the DefExpo 2020 is ‘India: The Emerging Defence Manufacturing Hub’. The main aim of the DefeExpo is to bring the leading technologies in the defence sector under one roof and provide a innumerable  opportunities for the government, private manufactures and startups.

The sub theme of the exhibition is ‘Digital Transformation of Defence’ which aligns with the concept of the future battlefield. The main focus will be on manufacturing for the aerospace and defence sector through application of newer technologies. The DefExpo will play the role of a catalyst in attracting not only investments but also cutting-edge technologies to the region.
