AFCAT 2020 Exam Pattern: Air Force Common Admission Test commonly known as AFCAT is a common entrance examination organized by Indian Air Force to select eligible cadets for multiple posts in Ground Duty and Flying Branch. AFCAT is conducted twice every year and millions of students appear in the examination to become part of prestigious organisation. Candidates who wants to join Indian Air Force through AFCAT must be must be looking for its exam pattern, topics wise marking schemes, the number of questions and other related useful information. Though the syllabus has not changed much still few changes are there which you may face while appearing for the exam. One needs to be well versed with the pattern and syllabus of the AFCAT exam. In this article, we have provided you the information related to AFCAT 2020 Exam Pattern and marking scheme.

AFCAT 2020 Exam will be conducted in two phase. To be acceptable for the post one need to score minimum qualifying marks both in written test and AFSB test as prescribed by the Indian Air Force. Candidates will be selected in order of the marks secured by them in both written and SSB. Final Merit list would be updated in the official website of Indian Air Force
after all SSB are conducted for AFCAT Entries.

NOTE: The Online examination will consist of objective type questions and will be in
English only for both AFCAT and EKT.

Marking schemes:
(i) Three marks will be awarded for every correct answer.
(ii) One mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
(iii) No mark will be awarded for the unattempted questions.

The second phase of the exam will be through AIR FORCE SELECTION BOARD(AFSB)
Indian Air Force will prepare the list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying score in the online AFCAT as decided by the Indian Air Force. Selected candidates will be called at one of the Air Force selection board. Candidates who have applied for NCC Special Entry and Meteorology Branch will be directly called for AFSB testing at one of the AFSB  centres. 

Physical fitness:
While reporting to the SSB, candidates are advised to be physically fit and healthy in order to undergo various tests at AFSB. Candidates should aim to achieve an ability to run 01 miles (1.6 km) in 10 minutes, 10 push-ups and 3 chin ups.

Testing of AFSB would consist of three stages:
(a)Stage-1: This test is a screening test and only qualified candidates would go for further rounds. Qualified candidates will require to go for document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branch they have applied for. Those who failed to meet the necessary requirements would be sent back on the first day itself.

(b)Stage-2: Psychological test will be conducted on day one and the group and interview would start after the document check for the next five days.

(c)For Flying Branch: Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) would be administered to recommended candidates only. This is once in a lifetime test.

Candidates who have failed the CPSS/PABT in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible.
