Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria appointed next chief of Air Staff


Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria has been appointed next chief of Air Staff. Government of India has decided to appoint Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, presently Vice Chief of Indian Air Force as the next Chief of the Air Staff after the retirement of Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VM, ADC on 30th Sept 2019.

Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria was commissioned into the Fighter Stream of Indian Air Force in June 1980, and has graduated from National Defence Academy as winner of the coveted 'Sword of Honour' an award given to top-ranking cadet across the country. He has held various Command, Staff and Instructional Appointments at various levels including the present one as Vice Chief of Air Staff.


Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria has also held posts like Deputy Chief of Air Staff, commander of a Jaguar fighter squadron and Chief Test Pilot for the Light Combat Aircraft project that built Tejas - India's first indigenously-built fighter jet.

He also holds the unique distinction of being an Experimental Test Pilot, a Cat 'A' Qualified Flying Instructor and a Pilot Attack Instructor, according to his profile on the Indian Air Force website.

As Deputy Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Bhadauria acted as chairman of the Indian negotiating team for the controversial purchase of the 36 Rafale jets, the first batch of which will be delivered to the IAF in early 2020.

Air Marshal RKS Bhadauria, is married to Mrs. Asha Bhadauria and has two children. He  is a highly-decorated officer of the Indian Air Force and has been awarded distinguished service and gallantry awards like the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and the Vayu Sena Medal.
