Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Defence Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1. IMPRESARIO (noun) संयोजक
Meaning: a person who organizes and often finances concerts, plays, or operas.
Synonyms: organizer, manager, producer, controller.
Antonyms: antagonist, opponent, adversary.
Usage: As a nightclub impresario, the promoter tried to get as many people to the parties as possible.

2.BEDECK (verb) सजाना
Meaning: decorate.
Synonyms: adorn, array, beautify, embellish.
Antonyms: denude, dismantle, blemish, deface.
Usage: The hall was bedecked with flowers.

3. PERCOLATE (verb) टपकना
Meaning: to flow forth slowly through small openings.
Synonyms: exude, ooze, seep, strain.
Antonyms: gush, pour, stream, surge.
Usage: The water percolating through the soil may leach out minerals.

4. ENVIRON (verb) घेरना
Meaning: surround; enclose.
Synonyms: encircle, envelop, wrap, swathe.
Usage: The stone circle was environed by an expanse of peat soil.

5. USHER (verb) परिचय करवाना
Meaning: show or guide (someone) somewhere.
Synonyms: escort, accompany, help, assist.
Antonyms: neglect, stop, trail, cease.
Usage: By refusing to discuss euthanasia, they usher in something worse.

6.VERNACULAR (adjective) स्थानीय भाषा
Meaning: used in or suitable for speech and not formal writing.
Synonyms: colloquial, conversational, jargon, argot.
Antonyms: standard, undialectical, grammatical, formal.
Usage: While the author never stated the novel's setting, the vernacular of the characters identified the location as somewhere in Asia.

7.SACK (verb) बरख़ास्त करना
Meaning: dismiss from employment.
Synonyms: bounce, discharge, dismiss, terminate,
Antonyms: recruit, employ, engage, hire.
Usage: They made him pay for his offence by giving him the sack.

8.SUBTERRANEAN (adjective) भूमिगत
Meaning: secret; concealed.
Synonyms: covert, subversive, sunken, private.
Antonyms: above- ground, surface, open, palpable.
Usage: You can access the subterranean rail system by riding the escalator underground.

9. SUBVERT (verb) विकृत करना
Meaning: to lower in character, dignity, or quality.
Synonyms: debauch, degrade, demean, demoralize.
Antonyms: elevate, enrich, uplift, enhance.
Usage: By insisting that she pay me for helping her, she subverted my noble desire to do a good deed without reward.

10.CLINCH (verb) कसना
Meaning: confirm or settle (a contract or bargain).
Synonyms: secure, settle, conclude, finalize.
Antonyms: muddle, unsettle, unfasten, disprove.
Usage: They are hoping to clinch a major deal to supply computers to the army.
