71st Indian Army Day

15th January is celebrated as the Indian Army Day. It is celebrated in recognition of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa taking over as the First Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India on 15th January 1949. This is the 71st Indian Army Day. On this day, a parade is organized in the Parade Ground, New Delhi and celebrations are held in the different headquarters and commands of the Army.

History will be made when Lieutenant Bhavana Kasturi will lead the marching contingent of the ASC consisting of 144 personnel in the Army Day Parade. She will be the first woman to ever command a marching contingent. Moreover, for the first time ever a lady, Captain Shikha will lead a Daredevils Team of the Corps of Signals consisting of 33 men riding nine bikes in a pyramid formation. She will give a standing salute the guests while riding her bike.

Let us all salute the brave soldiers, officers, ex – servicemen and their families on this Indian Army Day and show gratitude to the ones who protect us from peril and doom. Let us wish these brave soldiers who give up their own comforts and ease so that we can continue to live a peaceful life. No words can match your bravery, courage and the supreme sacrifices that you all have made. We can all just honour and pray to keep your spirit alive and embody your values and principles to lead our lives in a better way, thinking about the greater good as you all had thought.

We all salute our brave soldiers.
